If everything that guy says is true, 5,000 for that car is great, interior looks great, and you don't have to worry about a clutch job/timing. GO BUY IT!

Does seem odd that it looks like he has a short shifter but didn't mention it...does have the usual cracked dash, and it looks like he still has the original deck in there as well.

Exactly my thoughts. So sad I don't have the 5k for it now.

Seems like it is almost too good to be true though, I dunno, just feel really weird about it, a 944 in that condition with that much work done. He omitted several things that you can clearly tell, and also didn't say the mileage, the seats aren't cracked, but the dash is, which means it probably spent a lot of time sitting. I would at least go check it out.

True, and also the Montego is a car that only attracts guys. Not that I buy a car to attract women. Two very different kinds of awesome.

LOL that's a very true statement. I should remind my wife of that, maybe she'll like it more.

on that note, my father in law had a 944 brand new in the 80s. He said it was a piece of crap that broke every week, but it attracted more girls than any car or motorcycle he ever owned LOL. They flocked to it apparently.

This is also Wichita, KS. Zero car culture here, really. So for the area, the price seems about right and the fact that the 944 isn't the most well known / loved model. But I love the 944

LOL, yes the 944 was notoriously unreliable, especially the first few model years. But the Porsche community has found all sorts of parts that fit, mods for better reliability and better than OEM parts...

Hahaha, well that's good news. He had such a love/hate relationship with that car from what he says.

He ended up trading it for a Ford Probe GT, with manual. Much more reliable and faster than the stock Mustang 5.0 of the year. (despite the funny name)

Oh yeah, as you can tell from my avatar I am a 944 junkie as well. I was stationed in Kansas for 2 years so I know a little about the car market, so the price seems reasonable, but like I said, the guy went through the trouble of putting down everything hes done to it, but didn't put down the mileage, or that hes messed with the shifting mechanism (short shifter), and that cracked dash but no cracked seats is a tall tell sign of it sitting around, but hopefully all those parts changed up was him refreshing it up from sitting around a while, great thing about these cars is they are galvanized and the underside is coated, so the risk of rust is very minimal, but like I said any car 944 that looks halfway decent, not to mention a fresh clutch/timing belt, is worth a look. And since there isn't much of a car culture around there, he may have the 944 for a while, so it may give you time to save up some cash to pick it up.
